Her Late Night Banging Kept Me Up

I hit the delete button and placed my face in my hands. After inhaling and exhaling several times, I allowed my fingers to slide down my face exposing my eyes to the laptop screen. Only three words looked back at me — “She’s a hoe.”

A future bestseller.

I chewed my bottom lip as I stared at the screen, wondering where to begin the story. Tapping my foot on the ground in frustration, I whispered, “fucks sake” to myself and began to type.

Several terrible words later, a squeak sounded from the baby monitor. My eyes flickered to the left where it was sitting on the arm of the couch, then back to the laptop. Instantly, my fingers stopped as my brain registered what I had just seen.

My head swiveled and my eyes zeroed in on the little screen. My heart skipped a beat as my mouth fell open. I shot forward, straightening my back while trying to push the laptop to my right. My legs took an extra second to follow orders but eventually obeyed and brought me to my feet as my eyes stayed transfixed on the screen.

My two-year-old was balancing on top of her safety bed rail. The rail that stops her from rolling out of bed onto the floor. The rail that is only one inch thick…
