Her Tantrum Sparked a Trip to the Hospital
For someone else.
We sat outside the Consultant’s office, waiting to find out the results of the scans. How serious was it? Would surgery be necessary? Was it fixable? Were we going to be here forever because I really needed a nap?
My one-and-a-half-year-old daughter has an obsession with eyeglasses. Sunglasses. Reading glasses. I’m an adult who doesn’t need glasses but I’m trying to look intelligent/ slutty glasses. All of them.
She takes glasses off of people’s faces, heads, and neck chains, and tries to put them on herself, followed by squeals of delight if she manages to do so.
I bought her two pairs of her own toddler sunglasses, but obviously, she thinks they’re shit and she only wants adults’ glasses.
She also likes to take watches off wrists. I taught her to do that. We’re starting a crime ring.
Two weeks ago, my daughter was playing with her grandma (my mum), who wears reading glasses in her presence.
Chump.
While usually gentle with glasses, on that particular day, my daughter decided it was time for a rave. She snatched her grandma’s glasses, forced them on her face, and started head banging to Baby Shark.
