I used to get boosted when I self-published. I've only been boosted when I've written for a pub the last few months. I don't know why that has changed but it sucks. I like the freedom too. I don't want my writing to meet other's criteria.

I still self publish a lot and throw a few in pubs to have a chance at a boost. There are some that are more laidback, such as Bouncin and Behavin. That might be a good place to start if you decide to give pubs a go.
