I agree it would be better for children to grow up with two mentally sound parents and it is unfortunate that doesn't always happen.

Speak about that. Share that in your stories.

It's not your place to preach your beliefs on the back of someone else's trauma. I speak with a lot of people who have been through something similar to me. A lot of them would have been deeply upset by your choice of words.

The way in which you have shared your beliefs is not protecting children. It's blaming and shaming. God forbid you ever have to go through spousal abuse and understand the gravity of it.
