“Let’s go to the mall next weekend,” my friend, Sasha said as the waitress placed another two cocktails on the table between us.

“See each other two weekends in a row?” I asked as I raised my eyebrows and picked up my glass. “You’re getting a bit clingy.”

“Fuck off,” she replied as we both paused to sip from our straws.

“I want to go Christmas shopping,” she added after emptying half her glass.

“Ugh. It’s September. Please don’t talk about Christmas,” I said as I leaned back in my chair.

A loud noise made me glance over my shoulder at a group of women two tables down from us. They were squealing and laughing in an attempt to deafen everyone else in the bar.

“September is basically Christmas. I’m only talking about stage one of Christmas shopping. Stage two can be done in October,” Sasha prattled on as I sighed and turned back to face her.

She continued, “Plus, it’s not as though you have anything better to do. And I think…” She trailed off.

Her eyes were fixated on the bar. Before I could follow her stare, she said, “Is that Billy?”
