Is it possible that someone so close to you, your spouse, could care so little for you? Sixteen months ago, I would have said no. Today, unfortunately, I know better.

Sixteen months ago my husband and I excitedly headed to the hospital to have our first baby.

Well, not that excitedly because contractions hurt like a bitch.

There were some complications and I was rushed into surgery to have a c-section. Thankfully both baby and I came out of the situation healthy and happy.

I was administered some pain medication in the hospital, but luckily I did not need much as I was recovering well and my pain was minimal.

After asking my nurses and doctors if I could leave every time they stepped foot near my room, they finally agreed to send me home.

I started asking four hours after my surgery. They thought I was joking... erm, no.

Upon discharge, my doctor prescribed me a 15-day supply of Oxycodone and two other medications.

I can’t remember what they were; something boring.

I mentioned to my husband that I was happy with Ibuprofen and did not want to take the stronger drugs unless my pain got a lot worse.
